About Me

Hi! I'm Alyssa Jones (also known as Lyss) and I am passionate about helping working professionals discover sustainable ways to improve their wellbeing through fitness. I'd love to share a little about my journey, and how I use it to help my clients.

Growing up, I was always an athlete. I played soccer and tennis, and swam every summer in my neighborhood league. In college, I started going to the gym and pool regularly to replace team sports. Fitness was part of my life, and I had no problems maintaining the physique I desired. This continued throughout graduate school, and a year of working, but my life changed when I decided to switch gears and attend law school.

I quickly learned that law school, and subsequently, law firm life were a completely different ballgame. I struggled to make time for fitness, and when I did have free time, I wanted to spend it with my friends and family, or catching up on sleep. The sedentary lifestyle and late night work caught up to me quickly, and soon I found myself completely burnt out, in a body I didn't recognize. In my conversations with my friends and coworkers, I learned that I wasn't alone - this story is pretty standard for a lot of people in the legal industry! Despite making enough to pay for the best gym and food, I didn't have the time or willpower to make the consistent lifestyle changes I needed to make. My doctor's visits became more and more frequent, with less good news each time.

After leaving the Vault 50 firm that I joined after law school, I finally found the time to prioritize my health. I went back to the gym, and rediscovered my love of fitness. Through resistance training, I was able to get my blood pressure back under control, shed some of the weight I'd put on, and more importantly, have a newfound appreciation for my health. My passion became my career, and I became a certified personal trainer.

I think my journey uniquely positions me to help working professionals in a way a lot of other personal trainers can't. For starters, I have experienced life both as an athlete, and as someone who hasn't set foot in the gym for years. I understand that, no matter how many wellness advocates tell you that sleep, nutrition, and fitness are important, in real life, there are fire drills, and deadlines, and other nuances that fight against you. As someone who has been in those situations, I'm here to help.

If you're interested in working with me to improve your quality of life in achievable, effective ways, please reach out! I'd love to hear your story, and help you write the next chapter.
